Turner Automotive in Madisonville, Tennessee was established in 2013 and is built on more than 39 years of experience in the industry. Since the beginning, we have been committed to helping our customers get the quality car care that they deserve.

Through honest business practices, convenience, and competitive pricing, we want to make anything from a simple oil change to a major repair as positive an experience as possible for our clients. With our knowledge and experience, our team seeks to help you look after your cars and budget.

About Our Founder, Larry Turner

Our founder’s fascination with engine design and function began early while watching, and later helping his father take apart and reassemble combustion engines (including race car engines). Larry realized that he would need other skills as well, pushing him to study welding in order to be able to do chassis builds.

In today’s automotive market, continuing education is critical. After accepting a part-time teaching position at a local college in the Automotive Department, Larry realized that he needed to expand his education.

Larry earned associate degrees in Applied Science and Computer Information Systems, as well as a certificate in Welding. He holds several ASE certifications and is working towards an ASE Master Technician certificate. Larry is also a member of the International Automotive Technicians Network, Identifix, Automotive Service Excellence, the SFI Foundation, Inc. (SFI), and the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA).

He has been a successful business owner for over 40 years in another field. His hobby is drag racing, and learning fabrication became a necessity. Larry opened Progressive Welding in the mid-1990s, servicing fabrication needs for major restaurant chains. One of his largest customers was Hooters Midwest. Larry and his team provided stainless welding for all new build-outs and any repairs needed for current stores.

His fabrication skills led to building race cars for several customers as well as his own. With safety being a big concern in racing, he was fortunate enough to become part of the IHRA Chassis Certification program through the SFI.

Larry opened Turner Automotive in 2013 in order to fully utilize these services and skills. He found that—through honesty, integrity, courtesy, and having a strong work ethic—he is able to bring a solid and sound company to the community.
